Eat your heart out, MGM Grand: The larger Mohegan Sun.

Bigger Is Weirder
The most casino gambling space? Gotta be some Vegas hotel, right? Sorry, Jack. Not even close. Mohegan Sun in (get this!) Connecticut has more than 300,000 square feet of gaming space in two casinos. That translates to 6,300 slot machines, 116 blackjack tables, and 22 roulette and craps tables. Yeah, but... Connecticut?
Is This a Great Country, or What?
According to casinocity.com, the world has precisely 4,175 casinos, horse tracks and miscellaneous other gaming facilities where you can place a legal bet. Top dawg country? The U.S. kicks serious butt. The top 10:
1. United States, 1,589
2. Australia, 347
3. France, 258
4. United Kingdom, 212
5. Russia, 170
6. Canada, 107
7. Germany, 102
8. Estonia, 101
9. New Zealand, 62
10. Czech Republic, 54
Real Poker at Sea?
Live for the thrill of Texas Hold 'Em, Omaha or 7 Card Stud? Then beware the shipboard kind, at least for now, warns Carnival Corp. vice president of casino operations Rodney C. Dofort. Dofort, who oversees 67 cruise ship casinos in nine different cruise lines, says not to expect the no-limit poker you see on TV--or even the same game--in cruise ship casinos.
While most shipboard casinos have poker--three tables at most--what you will find is the tamer versions of the game--Caribbean Stud, Three Card and Let It Ride. "To the regular poker enthusiast or fanatic, these casino poker games are not even considered an alternative," says Dofort.
But since the twentysomethings cruise lines want to get onboard are craving balls-out poker action, he thinks shipboard casinos will have to deliver it...and soon. Most likely scenario: High-roller poker parlors separate from the traditional casino.
