Poker Hand
How would you play it?

Tips: Poker

1. There are no insider strategies to betting, beyond trying to be calm and methodical in your play. Otherwise, you tend to give away your hand with "tells"--nervous habits that telegraph your anxiety level.

2. When you're looking for a game, remember that there are two kinds of game: fixed-limit and spread-limit. Take a game with a limit of 1-5. In a fixed-limit game you must bet $1 in the early rounds and $5 in the later rounds. A spread-limit game allows bets for any amount between $1 and $5 at any time.

3. Buying chips during the course of hand is not allowed. If you run out, you are said to be all-in. Be sure to have a suitable stake.

4. Casino poker isn't a friendly game. Any of the following may cause your hand to be declared dead if you don't follow these rules:
Your cards must remain in sight.
Don't show your cards to anyone else.
Your cards must not touch anyone else's.
Your cards must not touch any discard pile cards.
If a card falls to the floor, your hand is dead.

After you win a pot, leave your cards face up on the table until the dealer pushes the chips to you. There is no proof it's your pot if it's been "mucked" by touching other cards or some other minor taint. Nothing's worse than losing after you've already won.
